Nicko has been fortunate enough to play with bands and musicians primarily as a bassist.  Covering several genres...

Metal: Archon, Lowchain, Secluded, and Swidden
Hip/Hop: The Desperados
Pop rock: The Envoys and The ITs!
R&B: J Lamont
Electronica: Vapor Eyes and Boomjuice
Blues: Barrelhouse Chuck.
Nicko joined the Steel Chops originally as a bassist in late 2006 via request of his High School friend Scott.  While demoing a few ideas to JD and Scott it was determined that Nicko would play lead guitar for the band.  After playing bass for so many years, Nicko was challenged with figuring out his "sound".  It became clear that he had to do what came natural to him.  A mixture of his influences; blues, country, rock, jazz and a bit of metal would be the inspiration to produce a unique yet familiar tone.  Ambiance inspired by guitarists of the so called "Psychedelic" and or "Alternative" genres would also play a part in Nicko's playing.
Nicko hates labeling sub genres of Rock n Roll.  Although The Steel Chops is based off of American Roots music via Blues and Country, Nicko doesn't feel that there are or should be any limitations as to how the band creates music. "Expression should not be restricted." Nicko continues to look forward to a long musical journey with The Steel Chops and can still be occasionally seen in the Chicago area playing bass with bands like Barajas, The Mekanism and Seeking
